Selected Achievements

Managed technology and supported the Workforce Development staff at Dimock Community Health Center. Taught classes, maintained Microsoft Access databases, built web pages, and helped the staff use computers effectively.

Managed the support relationship for large Lotus Notes customers. Coordinated Lotus resources for planned activities and critical situations. Provided early access to product plans and served as a customer advocate to Lotus.

Led a business process redesign and image implementation project for an international manufacturing company. Supervised team members from IBM, the customer, and two sub-contractors during proposal, design, and implementation. Project produced over $750,000 revenue for IBM and more than 20% improvement in customer productivity.

Taught free computer courses (computer fundamentals, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) to students served by the Hattie B. Cooper Community Center and Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Also taught Microsoft Office to United Way Agency staff members.

Directed the IBM tasks needed to install IBM image products at two mutual fund shareholder services companies. Coordinated the activities of an outside software developer and obtained the IBM resources needed to fix software defects. Each customer installed two large AS/400 servers and over 200 OS/2 client workstations. Both recovered their investment in just over two years.

Designed, as part of an IBM and customer team, a system to allow the 50 state motor vehicle departments to exchange information electronically. The states store this information in different formats, on different computer systems, and use different communication protocols. We gave the five pilot states the ability to exchange information, using EDI and other communication protocols, in less than 20 seconds, with no change to existing systems.

Managed up to 18 professionals (Systems Engineers) involved in sales, customer support, and technical assistance.

Developed and taught sections of an eight-day course to improve professional skills of IBM systems engineers. Taught public speaking, business writing, how to run effective meetings, decision support systems, communications system management, career planning, and better listening.

Wrote the script for the showcase IBM demonstration for the Association for Image and Information Management (AIIM). Presented the demonstration at the national convention.

Led the systems engineering team responsible for technical sales and customer support at a large bank. This team was the leading contributor to branch sales objectives.
