The After-School community room provides a safe, stimulating environment
where kids can socialize, work on their homework, enjoy a nutritious meal, and
develop good social skills, study habits, and relationships with their peers.
Our youth have access to state-of-the-art computer equipment, sponsored by the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Verizon, to enhance their homework or use in a creative, supervised, fashion. They participate in organized activities such as dance, drama, individual and team sports, and reading groups. The After-School format is structured as not to limit their imagination and fun.
Camp Unity, a
collaborative effort with the Bridge After School Program, is a unique way for
kids to spend their summer days with their peers in a non-traditional
educational environment. Held at the Hale Reservation located in Westwood, MA,
Camp Unity offers rural experience for the participants.
The recreational activities, which the campers participate in, offer a test and understanding of physical strength as well as a team-oriented atmosphere allowing the campers to explore positions of, supporter, risk-taker, taskmaster, and team leader gaining self respect and self discipline.
Examples of activities include; canoeing, hiking, swimming, and scouting, as well as other sports such as basketball and soccer.
